Rebdorf Monastery, first mentioned in 1055, was well-known for its medieval manuscripts and glass pictures. In 1800 the famous library was plundered by the French General Joba. Today the books and pictures are dispersed all over the world.

own brewery since 1619.

According to the legend Katharina von Orlamünde, who spend her childhood at Lauenstein Castle, became a ghost (''the white lady'') after she had killed her two children. The ghost was last seen in 1806.
