During its eventful history Chambord Castle was inhabited by Francois I, Henri II, Francois II, Charles IX, Henri III, Henri IV, Gaston de Orleans, Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Marshall Maurice des Saxe, Napoleons legions, Marshall Berthier, Charles X, Henri V, Prince Elie de Bourbon-Parme. Its last inhabitant was Henri de Bourbon.

Chenonceau Castle is obligatory part of any Loire tour. It was used by Kings and Queens. It even survived the French Revolution as a military hospital. During World War II the separator line between the the German occupied part and the free France went amid this castle.

One of the nicest stories about Chenonceau Palace entwine about Catherine de Medicis marriage her. As an Italian woman she was afraid to be not accepted by the French Nobles. So her first appearance had to be devastatingly. And really she succeeded to attract everybodies attention. She was the first women wearing highheels, which gave her small figure importance, charisma and charm.
