The eruption of Santorins volcano in 1646 b.C. initiated a giant flood wave. It was accompanied by
ash rain and earth quakes and had effects on the whole culture in the Aegean. It came to bad harvests
and consecutively to political and social revolutions, which caused the downfall of the Minoic
culture.
