According to the legend Wartburg Castle was founded in 1067. Martin Luther, living here as Junker Jörg, translated the Bible into German. Goethe was also often at guest here. In 1999 Wartburg Castle was declared to be an UNESCO World Heritage.

Mouse castle was built in the 14th century. It got is name from the counts of Katzenelnbogen, who built their Burg Neukatzenelnbogen - also called Cat Castle (german: Burg Katz) - in the vicinity.

Sababurg Castle is a wild romantic state, which inspired the Brothers Grimm to write
their fairy tale about the ''Sleeping Beauty''. The 14th century Sababurg, situated on a hill in the dark oak forest of Reinhardswald is one of the 62 magical stops on the German Fairy Tale route.
