Its last inhabitant was Henri de Bourbon. It was used by Kings and Queens. It even survived the French Revolution as a military hospital. During World War II the separator line between the the German occupied part and the free France went amid this castle. The Castle was often destroyed and rebuilt after the Thirty Years War. In 1945 it was destroyed again by the Russian Troups. All historical documents vanished in 1945.
