Despite its glorious history Blois Palace was forgotten for 130 years after the French Revolution.
The revolutionaries aimed to destroy all royal and noble. They stole almost all interior decoration.

The first palace of Blois was built in the 9th century. Later it was often extended and reconstructed. About 1500 King Louis XII initiated
the reconstruction to a Renaissance Palace with a large garden (which does not exist anymore).
Remarkable is the helix staircase in the main wing of the palace.
