The Brandenburg Gate was built after plans of Carl Gotthard Langhans in 1788. Its architectural paradigm are the ancient Propylaes of the Acropolis in Athens. Today it is the most important landmark of Berlin.

The Teufelsberg (Devils Hill) is with its 80 m the
highest mountain in the Berlin area.
It was built by the Allies after the Second World War from the rubble of the destroyed Berlin, estimately 12 million cubic meters rubble, or about 400,000 buildings.
