St. Lazarus Island is located in the lagoon of Venice. Because of its isolated location it was used as leper colony in the 12th century. In 1717 it was given to some Armenian monks. Today the whole island is covered by their monastery.

The ancient Greek settlement Paestum was founded in 650 b.C. Later it was inhabited by Romans, Saraszenes and Christians until the sourrounding area changed into marsh land.

The Jungfraujoch, ''Top of Europe'', is a saddle between Mount Mönch and Mount Jungfrau. It is the
watershed of Europe and attraction for millions
of visitors every year. With the highest railway of
the world, the ''Jungfraubahn'', the Jungfraujoch can be easily climbed. On top the ice palace within the glacier can be visited.
