On August 12th in 2003 a Greek dream became reality - a 2800m long rope bridge across the Gulf of Corinth. Its construction was often disturbed by seismic
activities in this area and the drift of the Peleponnesus. The depth of water is there about 65m.

The Corinth Canal interconnects the Ionic Sea with the Agean Sea. Plans for such a canal already existed in ancient times, but the ancient architects failed. The canal was finally realized in the
19th century.
