Dornburg Castles are situated above the river Saale on a steep rugged shell limestone rock. The 3 grand
ducal castles are from different epochs: gothic, renaissance and rococo. They are famous for their
marvelous gardens and the visits of Johann-Wolfgang
von Goethe, who loved the view. The foggy meadows inspired him to write the ''Erlkönig'' here.

Rheineck Castle goes back to the 11th century. It is located on the banks of River Rhein near Bad Breisig. The castle is located at the Vinxtback, where was the border of the Roman provinces of Upper and Lower Germania.
