The westwing of Blois Palace started under King Francois I in 1515. The Italian style influenced its architecture. The new wing contained one of the most
important libraries of this epoch.

the Italian banker Bernard Savliati. The rooms are
still equipped with valuable historic furniture.

Dornburg Castles are situated above the river Saale on a steep rugged shell limestone rock. The 3 grand
ducal castles are from different epochs: gothic, renaissance and rococo. They are famous for their
marvelous gardens and the visits of Johann-Wolfgang
von Goethe, who loved the view. The foggy meadows inspired him to write the ''Erlkönig'' here.
