The Alhambra is a fortress complex of the Moorish monarchs of Granada. Moorish poets describe it as a ''pearl set in emeralds'' in allusion to the brilliant colour of the buildings and the wood around them. The park was planted by the Moors with roses, oranges and myrtles.

Ronda is situated in a very mountainous area 750 meters above sea level. The Rio Guadalquivir runs through the city, dividing it in two and carving out a steep canyon. Three historic bridges span the canyon.

The ''Plaza del Toros'' in Ronda is the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain. It was built in 1784 and is still in use.
