The rectangular square is built in Castile style as Plaza Mayor. It is the only square of this kind in Andalusia. At Roman times was here the main entry to the amphitheatre.

The Alhambra is one of the most famous attractions in Europe. The fortress complex is located on top of a hill in Granada in South of Spain. It is one of the most important examples ot the Moorish architecture. The building complex contains a citadel, the palaces of the Nazaries and the palace of emporer Karl V. Outside the walls are the wide spacious gardens of the Generalife.

The city of Granada was inhibited from the dawn of history. There was an Ibero-Celtic settlement. Later Phoenicians and Carthagenians came here. Around 500 BC the Greeks established a colony called Elybirge. Under Roman rule the name became Illiberis
